Morrow Point Reservoir is located below Blue Mesa Reservoir, aproximately 25 miles west of Gunnison, Colorado. The reservoir is about 12 miles long and winds through the head end of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Sheer cliff walls line almost the entire reservoir making foot access the only way to get to the reservoir. The concessionaire for Curecanti National Recreation Area cranes two 21' pontoon boats over the dam every spring and runs them 11 miles up the reservoir to the only boat dock. Only a couple of guides have access to these boats. Because of this, Morrow Point Reservoir is as close to fishing a private reservoir as you can get while still on public water. We target trophy Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Kokanee Salmon, and Lake Trout Mid-May through Mid-September.
